Free Workshop for Media and Medical Writers on Covering Thyroid Cancer, Oct. 18, 2012

ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivor’s Association (www.thyca.org) will conduct a free workshop on “Covering Thyroid Cancer” on Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. as part of its 15th International Thyroid Cancer Survivors' Conference at the Eaglewood Resort & Spa, 1401 Nordic Road, Itasca, Illinois, near Chicago. The workshop will be held in the Waterleaf Room.

Media representatives and medical writers are welcome. The workshop will include questions and answers and free materials, including the 50-page handbook Thyroid Cancer Basics.

Thyroid cancer survivors will be available for interviews. Journalism students are welcome.

Thyroid cancer has increased rapidly in incidence in recent years in both men and women. More than 56,000 people will be diagnosed with thyroid cancer in the United States in 2012. It occurs in all age groups from young children through seniors. It has several types and variants and is treated differently from other kinds of cancer.

The 15th International Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Conference will take place on October 19 – 21, 2012, at the Eaglewood Resort & Spa in Itasca, Illinois, with over 100 sessions and 70 speakers, including 40 physicians from around the United States and from Mexico.
