Midwest Thyroid Cancer Survivors' Spring Workshop Features Physicians Speakers, Survivor Roundtables (03/05)

Free One-Day Event Will Take Place in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 16, 2005
Sponsored by ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivors' Association

On Saturday, April 16, 2005, thyroid cancer survivors and their families are invited to attend a one-day workshop from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the David C. Pratt Cancer Center at St. John’s Mercy Cancer Center, 615 South New Ballas Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63123. Sponsor is ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association, Inc.

This educational and supportive day is FREE and open to people at all stages of testing and treatment for all types of thyroid cancer, as well as their families, friends, and caregivers.

Physician speakers include

  • Susan Larson, M.D., Chicago, Illinois;
  • Jeffrey F. Moley, M.D., Surgeon, Washington University St. Louis, a medical advisor to ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivors' Association; and
  • Irini E. Veronikis, M.D., Endocrinologist, St. Louis, Missouri.

The physicians will speak and answer questions about thyroid cancer care, research advances, and physician-patient communications.

Additional features of the program include:

  • Session led by Mary K. Debenedetti, R.N., B.S.N., Washington University St. Louis
  • Free Reiki sessions
  • Survivor/caregiver support group roundtables led by ThyCa volunteers.

ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association, Inc. is a voluntary nonprofit, 501(c) (3) organization providing support groups, resources, and publications, free of charge, to thyroid cancer survivors and their families. ThyCa also sponsors additional free workshops, Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month, and an annual international Thyroid Cancer Survivors' Conference.
