New Thyroid Cancer Support Group Begins in Fort Worth, Texas (03/08)

Thyroid cancer continues to increase rapidly in incidence, and ThyCa: Thyroid Cancer Survivors’ Association, Inc. is pleased to announce the formation of the ThyCa Fort Worth, Texas, Support Group.

The free support group will meet on the first Monday evening of each month from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. beginning Monday, April 7, 2008. The meetings are held at the Harris Methodist Hospital of Fort Worth, Education Classroom on the Plaza Level, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas.

The group welcomes people at all phases of testing, treatment, and follow-up for thyroid cancer, as well as their family members and friends.

Debra Drzich is the group’s volunteer facilitator. For more information about the group, e-mail Fortworth-TX@thyca.org, call 817-246-8084, or visit the group’s web page. The web page has a link map to the hospital.

“These free support groups offer wonderful opportunities to share experiences, receive and give support, and learn from others who are coping with thyroid cancer,” said ThyCa's Support Groups Coordinator Sara Brenner. “We thank Debra Drzich for starting the Fort Worth group.”

Free thyroid cancer support groups are available in several other areas of Texas, as well as coast to coast in the United States, and in Costa Rica and Philippines. Visit http://www.thyca.org/sg/local.htm to find all groups’ web pages, plus their meeting schedules and more details.
