2. Help plan and organize the Silent Auction Fundraiser, ThyCa's largest annual fundraiser. The advnace help on this project can be done anywhere in the U.S. Contact :execdirector@thyca.org.

3. Help onsite at the Silent Auction Fundraiser, ThyCa's largest annual fundraiser. Onsite setup and coordination. This help must be done at the Annual International Thyroid Cancer Survivors' Conference. Contact: execdirector@thyca.org.

4. Work with the Fundraising team to strengthen our capabilities at the regional level. This task can be done from anywhere in the U.S. Contact: execdirector@thyca.org.

5. Develop an announcement to the effect of: "see if your employer provides grants to non-profits (ThyCa will do the work if you just let us know!)". This task can be done from anywhere in the U.S. Contact: execdirector@thyca.org.

Conference Tasks

1. Help the Conference Program Team develop the conference program. This task can be done from anywhere in the U.S. Contact: conference@thyca.org

2. Help with Outreach, Publicity, and Mailings. When: From the time the conference dates are announced, up to any time to the first day the conference. Help spread the word about the conference. This is a key job that needs lots of volunteers, because attendees hear about the conference through many pathways and networks, sometimes just the day before the conference. Spread the word about the conference through ThyCa support networks, friends, and relatives, and to all types of health care professionals (endocrinologists, endocrine surgeons, nuclear medicine physicians, internists, gynecologists, general practitioners, dentists, nurses, mental health professionals), plus hospitals, clinics, other cancer support organizations, congregations, senior centers, schools and colleges, workplaces, public libraries, congregations, community groups. How: There are many possibilities! Tell others about the conference. Help distribute flyers. Help with mailings of flyers and press releases. Compile contact lists of media and community organizations, help suggest and make media contacts. You can help with this task from anywhere. Contact: conference@thyca.org

3. Help with Area Information. Gather information and answer questions about the area for the Conference Team and to add to the ThyCa web site. We have the previous year's text to guide you. You can use the Internet to gather most of this information. Topics: transportation to the hotel from airport, local public transportation, restaurants and fast food places, office supply stores, copy shops and print shops near the hotel. This task can be coordinated from anywhere. Contact: conference@thyca.org

4. Help Develop Web Site Text and Print Materials. Help develop the conference print materials, including the flyers, press releases, postcards, program booklet, evaluation forms, other forms, onsite signs, daily update bulletin at the conference, and web site materials. Tasks include information gathering, writing, reviewing, editing, proofreading, and designing. This task can be coordinated from anywhere in the U.S. Contact: conference@thyca.org

5. In-Kind Contributions and Grants. Work with Conference Executive Committee and ThyCa Fundraising Committee to arrange in-kind donations of photocopying, paper, and other office supplies, as well as financial contributions. Help prepare grant proposals. This task can be coordinated from anywhere in the U.S. Contact: conference@thyca.org

6. Help Plan the Survivors’ Creative Expressions Display. Arrange the Art Display and Memory Table of creative writings, photographs, drawings, and other creative expressions. This task can be coordinated from anywhere in the U.S. Contact: conference@thyca.org

7. Handle the Onsite Creative Expressions Display. Set up the Survivors’ Art Display of creative writings, photographs, drawings, and other creative expressions. This task must be coordinated from onsite on the Thursday before the conference begins. Contact: conference@thyca.org

8. Store Conference Supplies. Store conference supplies and receive shipments of printed materials. This task must be coordinated from the conference area. Contact: conference@thyca.org

9. Assemble Attendee Packets. In the days just before the conference, assemble the attendee information packets. This task must be coordinated from the conference area, the week before the conference. Contact: conference@thyca.org

10. At the Conference: Be a Welcomer/Greeter. Greet and welcome attendees as they arrive and direct them to the registration table, meeting rooms, etc. Help answer questions from newcomers at the newcomers' hospitality area. Contact: conference@thyca.org

11. Coordinate Hotel Set-Up. A group of volunteers help at the hotel on the Thursday before the conference, to set up the registration table, attendee folders, displays, handouts, and signs. This task can be coordinated at the conference hotel. Contact: cconference@thyca.org

12. Help with Registration at the Conference. A large group of volunteers to take turns, 2-3 hours at a time, at the registration table, to greet and register attendees and give them their information packets. The Registration Table Coordinator helps recruit volunteers, and orients and schedules them. This task can be coordinated from anywhere in the U.S. Contact: conference@thyca.org
